BOMB EXPLODES

THROWN ON ROOF OF POLICE INSPECTOR’S HOIISF, (Per Press Association — Copyright.) GREYMOUTH, October 5. A bomb was thrown on the roof of the residence in Buccleugih Street, of Police Inspector Lopdell, early this morning, causing damage to the roof. T'he Inspector interviewed, was reticent, but he said at 1.30 a.m. the family and himself were awakened by the sound of something heavy falling on the roof. “We were commenting about the noise, when a heavy explosion took place. An examination revealed that a bomb had been thrown, and it had lodged in .a gutter between the ridges of the house, where it exploded. This is all 1 have to say. We have to accept these things when they come.”
