A BIG DEFICIT OF NINETY MILLIONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, October 1. The pr st half year’s revenue totalled £263,528,000, an increase of £5,061,000. The expenditure was £372,636,000 for the period, a decrease of £9,003,000. The revenue fulfils the budget expectations. The expenditure of the Civil Service Departments exceeded the estimates. A deficit of £90,928,882 is disclosed by the British revenue returns for the first six months of the financial year, <if3 compared with the deficit of £98,410,249 for that period last year. Ordinary revenue amounted to £268,528,308, while ordinary , expenditure was £359,457,190. Revenue increases included £21,293,000 in customs and excise, and £4,550,000 in estate dutiesA saving of £12,006,376 was made in interest on the national debt, partly as) a result of the exceptionally low discount rates at which treasury bills have lately been sold, and there ha 9 been a saving of £3,050,000 in the Navy, Army, and Air votes.
