It is an extremely sad decision to have to make, and no doubt, you will realise that I do not make it .lightly,” wrote Mr T. C. .Lowry, former New Realalnd -and Wellington cricket captain, in announcing his retirement from cricket to the Wellington Cricket •Association. It .is felt ,in official oricket circles that the value of his leadership- alone is too great to he lost to the game. Some .-hope is entertained that Mr Lowry will postpone ■his -retirement.
