INSPECTORS TO BE APPOINTED

WELLINGTON, Setpember 26.

The acting-Minister of Employment (the Hon. A. Hamilton) made the following statement at Wellington on Saturday:—. “The Unemployment Board> is making arrangements for the publication of a statemerttfe setting out as fully as possible the obligations of taxpayers under unemployment legislation, whether as salary or wage-earners or recipients of other income. When statement is published the board trusts that every person will examine it closely to determine his or her liabilities under the legislation, and, without further delay, discharge any obligations which have not .yet been fulfilled. For the purpose of, is,-receiving -the fall amount .ofr-fei'enue .due. to it, the board' has to appoint a number of inspectors whose duty it will be to conduct investigations into the affairs of any probable taxpayer with the -. object of -gsc’ertainnig:'that all obligations in t<lie shape of payment of levy and taxation have been fully ’net. If in the course of any such investigation it is found that in any case deliberate evasion has occurred, the board will not hesitate to intsitute legal proceedings under the provisions of the Unemployment Act.”
