The winner of the first prize is Miss M. A. Stopforth, sister cf the well-known carrier cf Weld Street, and a well-known , resident here! for nearly fifty years. There was some misconception, and doubt to the j' actual winner on Saturday. The > telegraphed result showed, the , initial letter of the winner number as JD, whereas the ticket held by Mi** Stopforth was aB. A telegram to ten later in the day confirmed the winner as in the “B'” section. /•: . .
There was also a mistake made in that at first it was though a neice with the same first 1 initial “ was the winner.
The recipient was the subject of many congratulations, there being much interest shown locally-as this was the first occasion when the first, prize of any of these art unions' hast come to this district. -• : - •
