SNOWDEN TO RESIGN
FROM CABINET DIFFICULTY FOR THE PREMIER. • (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. l ■LONDON, September 23. The “Daily Herald” states that Lord Snowden has decided to resign from t'h^'-Cabinet. This decision lias really 'forced the hands of Sir H. Samuel, the Liberal Minister, and his colleagues, against their own inclinations, and has led to their decision to follow Lord Snowden's example. The resignations, adds the Herald, will b e sent to His Majesty after the Cabinet next week. Mr Ram say MacDonald has used aR of his lri'uence -.to persuade Sb H. Samuel and his followers to remain, but when he found that Lord Snowden was obdurate, h 6 accepted the position The I’rme Minister is a ready considering a re-shuffle of the •Ministry, and he will use his utmost endeavours to fill the_ the vacancies with other Liberals and National Labourites in order to retain the National character of the Government.
Lord Hailsham on arrival from Canada, said that it would be regrettable if the Liberal Ministers resigned from the Cabinet while there was still so much valuable work for the National Government to do. Every ’political party, he said, was represented at Ottawa, whose decisions could oe supported by every patriotic citizen. He and Sir P. Cunliffe Lister had found universal enthusiasm for the agreements throughout Canada.
