OF MANCHTJKtIO CHINESE SEND NOTE OF PROTES (British Ojficixl Wireless.) IRUGBY, September 20. The text of the Chinese note to the signatory and adherent powers of the Nine Power Treaty, was -delivered to the British Foreign Office yesterday. The note invites attention to the •serious situation brought about by the recognition by the Japanese Government of -VLanchukuo, and by ith 6 publication of the Treaty, by which Japan may station troops in these provinces of the Chinese republic at her own .will, and thus “attempts” to establish a virtual protectorate over that part lot China’s territory. After giving its .rendering of the developments during last year, the note recalls the ■ terms of the Niue Power Treaty, under which the signatories other than China, agree, inter alia, to irespect her sovereignty, independent and territorial, and the administrate, integrity of China, and states the Japanes 6 policy of aggression in Manchuria IJonstituta’s a direct violation of Chinas sovereignty as well as her territorial and administrative integrity, - : ' The note concludes; "The Chinese Government ..odnsiders a igi-avo situation has arisen, which involves the application of the stipulations of the Nine Ptower Treaty, and requests such measures to be taken as will properly J and effectively deal with the state of affairs brought about by .'Japan’s acts of aggression-”
’A CHINESE GENERAL MURDERED SHOT DEAD IN HIS HOME., (Received +bis day at 9.25 a m) SHANGHAI, September 21. Rear Admiral Wukwangtsung, chief of the hydrographic department of the Chinese Navy, was assassinated to-day. Four gunmen herded his family into a small room, wherein they were locked, rushed to an upstairs bedroom, and shot him dead. The motive is unrevealed, though five years ago a similar attempt was made, when a shot shattered his front teeth.
