The visitors were superior in the serums, and in the backs. The Marlborough forwards went well in the loose, and raised the score to the final figures after being 16. points, behind. Wellington scored four tries, two be» ing converted, and a penalty goal. Marlborough scored three unconverted tries. Although the game was patchy, the Wellington backs showed nice combination at times, and got their points by open play. Marlborough were outclassed in the first spell, hut in the second half their loose rushes, back and forward enabled them to sweep the defence aside and enjoy a • period of ascendancy, during which they, scored ' but three times. .
