N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. THE SECOND DAY’S RESULTS. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) DUNEDIN, September 20. The New Zealand amateur billiards championship advanced a stage further to-day,. Three matches were playd iii the morning, H. McLean (Christchurch) beat L. Coombe (Miltoh) by 666 to 563, after an interesting game, in which the greater experience of the Christchurch man told. McLean’s best breaks were 37 and 82, and Coombe’s best were 61 and 42. In the afternoon E. N. Stewart (Dunedin) beat L. C. McDonald (Dunedin) by 666 to 409. The winner’s cannoning won the match. The winner’s best breaks were 53, 44 and 33, unfinished, and 32. McDonald’s best were 54, 29 and 25. The best exhibition to date was that of Mason, playing against F. Anderson, whom he beat by 666 to 263. Mason outclassed his .opponent entirely, playing a good, bright open game. He relied! on all round billiards for scor- 1 ing. His best breaks were 77, 72, 75, 63 and 31. Anderson only twice exceeded 20, getting a 22 and a 21.
