ZOO CONDITIONS
EXTOLLED BY MAYOR, WELLINGTON, September 17. “That the Zoo be placed under the control of the director o? parks and reserves,” was moved by councillor F. Meadowcroft at last night’s meeting if the Wellington City Council. The-Mayor, Mr T. C. A. Hiskp, thought this was most undesirable. As the motion was not. a clause in the report he would rule that it was out of order, and would have to come up later at the next meeting. The Mayor said that; there had been a lot of criticism about the Zoo, and he. bad visited it 'n company with Colonel Young, a noted expert-on animals, and had .found that •■tip. conditions were very satisfactory. He also; .'thought the gardens were n credit to the curator.
