FATAL ACCIDENT
ATAUBAU RESIDENT SHOT. WHILE NEGOTIATING A FENCE. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) BLACKBALL, September 18.Th e discovery was made to-day of a tragedy that happened some time earlier at Ataurau (Moonlight), v 1 .eu the dead body of Mr Albert Pfaff, a well known resident was found at his property. Deceased, who was between 00 and 60 years of age, -had lived alone in a hut. Th e discovery -was hia-de by Messrs Albert Gi'ay and Charles Lansdoivn, -two Blackball mine employees. I ...... rile deceased, who had recently been cultivating hU garden,- appeared to , have oeen shot when getting through a fenc e with 'his gun. When the matter had been to . him, Constable Hendrickson, in company with Messrs R, Clarke, Kinsella and others, went out and conveyed 'the body -to Ahaura where the inquest , takes place to-day.
The brother of deceased was four years ago, found dead in hjs hut in the -■same locality. The only surviving relative is Mr Carl Pfaff, formerly of Kumara, -arid now of the staff of Messrs C. 'Smith Ltd(, Wellington, to \yhoni will be extended -the sympathy Of many' West Coast friends.
