FOR FISCAL INDEPENDENCE. • (Australian Press Association.) CANBERRA, September 16. In the House of Representatives, Mr Gregory (West Australia) moved » motion seeking a referendum on the question of granting Western Australia control, for twenty-five years of its own customs and excise duties.
Mr Gregory later, stated that he had received a telegram from the Premier Sir W. Mitchell, that he was in sympathy with the motion, but he proposed moving for secession, which would indicate customs control.
