GRAVE FEARS
JAPAN S POLICY OVER MANCHURIA STATE. {United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SHANGHAI, September 13. The Nanking Government’s- official and press circles express grave fear of the consequences of ’the Japanese Government’;: recognition of the new Manchurian State of Mancbukuo, which ■ isa expected to-morrow.
It is believ/ed that this will inevitably cause violent reactions 'throughout China. Though the Chinese authorities are taking every possible precaution, it is feared that the populace, driven to violent emotions, may get beyond control. Developments are also feared in North China, where it is thought that, as soon a® the recognition) is accomplished, the Japanese “troops will commence their long-waited offensive into the Jehol and Shanhaikuan region, thereby exerting strong pressure on both Peking and Tientsin. J V APPROVAL OF RECOGNITION. BY JAPANESE PRIVY COUNCIL. (Received this day at 9.50 a.m.) TOKYO, September 13. The Privy Council to-day in the presence of the Emperor, unanimously approved of the procedure for the recognition of Manchukuo. The protocol wifi be signed at Changchun on Thursday, and promulgated forthwith.
