William Phillip McCarthy* 1 , solicitor, said he had acted for several mining -and prospecting companies in the district. Each held a prospecting license some holdng four. In every case at least 600 acres had been asked for with prospecting licenses. To Mr Murdoch: It cost something like £66 to take up twelve prospecting licenses which held good for one year. A special claim of 1200 acres would be held for about £l5O. Others had acted similarly to Gill, in taking up areas' and prospecting only one. It was agreed that Counsel should forward legal argument in writing to His Honour, who, after considering the case, will deliver his decision.
