OUNEDJN, September 12 Mr A. H, Kimball, the Under-sec-retary for Mines, to-day held a conference at Dunedin with businessmen, when there was a discussion on the best methods to be adopted for the safeguard of the mining industry in New Zealand. H
Mr Kimbell, stated that for the month of June the export of gold from the Dominion had represented £IOO.000 in value.: This, he said, was the largest amount of gold exported from the Dominion in-any oiie month for many years. That export represented over £1,000,000 worth of gold t for a year.
Mr Kimbell add? J that he believed that in a couple of years’ time, provided that the gold mining art as were first of all properly tested, the export of gold from Now Zealand would represent £2,000,000 per annum.
