HEAVY DAMAGE BY FIRE

A spectacular .fire gutted the two top floors of McLeod’s Soap Factory at Waterloo. The damage, is estimated ,at ten thousand sterling.
BUYS DROWNED IN CHANNEL ’ 'SYDNEY, Sep. 11. On Saturday six' boys, of whom four were brothers, were playing in a storm water channel, emptying into White’s Bay, when a sudden fresht, due to a heavy rainstorm, trapped them. Two brothers, named Brown, aged 11 ana six years, were swept away and drowned, despite the valiant efforts of a third brother to save the youngest.
