TJnder ideal weather conditions find oil a hat'd, fast groufid, Waikato defeated Taranaki Rugby reps by pointH to 15 to-day, The game was not up to expectations, the play being of a ragged nature throughout. Story, Wilson, Inman, Aitken, Porterfield and Carroll were the Waikato try scorers, and Lash- kicked a penalty goal and converted a try, Aitken also converting one. For Taranaki, Clark, Walter and Young scored tides,' Clark converted one, arid Petty drop-kicked a goal.

SOUTHLAND V. WELLINGTON.

INVERCARGILL, September 7.

Southland maintained an unbeaten •record for the season to-day by defeating Wellington by 20 to 14. The game was fast and exciting. The weather was fine. Southland forwards were superior, but at times Wellington showed more dash, the passing of the hacks being the more crisp. This is the first time in Southland’s history that it has gone through a> season unbeaten.

For Manawhe,nua Ropata, Cooper (2), Wasley and Bramwell scored, and Johnson converted two and Barrett one.
