An interesting point was made clear in the Greymouth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday when a judgment summon®, issued by Margaret McDonnell, against Maurice Moore was being heard. On the Magistrate, Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., informing the judgment debtor, that judgment had been obtained against him in May 1918, Moore stated that it was the first he had heard of it. He did not get a summons. He was then informed that the original summons had been served by Constable J. . Rodgers to which lie replied that at 'the ‘time of service he was in the hospital, and he could not anything .about the proceedings. The Magistrate then remarked to Mr M. James, who appeared for the judgment creditor, that the summons was 14 years old, and questioned whether 1 a judgment, summons could be issued after such a long period without tbe .c°n selv k of a Magistrate. The ease was stood down, but later, Mr James submitted that there was nothing in- the Limitation of Debt Act, in reference to a judgmerit summons. Moore did not appear, when the case was again called in the afternoon, arid an order was made against him for the payment of £l3 6s 3d, with costs £1 11s 6d, by; instalments of £2 per month, the first instalment "to be paid on October 6.
