At Longbeaeh .rowing stadium, ' E. A. Phelps (E|ngland) retained the world’s professional 'sculpng chanipionship, defeating '‘Major Goodsell (Australia)' by a' 'length, taking seventeen •■"A'uiss '6.2 seconds . for 1 the four thousand metres course.
Phelps came from behind in the List two hundred metres, after being four lengths behind at the turn. It war the first time in the history of the event that it was rowed around a turn.
