SENSATIONAL THEFT
MILLION DOLLARS CHICAGO BANDITS’ BIG HAUL (United Press Association—By Electric: Telegraph—Copyright.) CHICAGO, September 5. One of the most sensational and most lucrative , crimes of recent years is recorded here. A group of safe-’ openers tunnelled into the real estate offices of Koch and Company, .from which they escaped with one million dollars, after holding two families, in an adjoining house, prisoners over 14 hours on Saturday afternoon, on the pretext that they w ere officers.
The robbers entered the adjoining house. Then they casually brought in acetylene torches and other equipment. They bored through the walls to the vault room office. There, using the Company’s index as their guide, they system at icaffly looted some 350 safety deposit boxes, taking only the cash, and ignoring he securities.
