GERMAN TARIFFS INCREASE.
(Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) BERLIN, September 3.
New emergency decrees being published next week incjude higher tariffs, J|n some capes, double 'ithe existing rates on goods competing with German manufactures. American importers will be most .severely hit, and may be forced to close down. They have already .protested to Washington, urging the Government .to make representation on the subject.
AMNESTY MAY FOLLOW SENTENCE
BERLIN, 'September 5
The five reprieved Nazis .were .removed from Beuthen to the Gross iStrelitz prison. They were escorted by seven motor lorries, and sixty armed police. It is suggested that they are likely to be retried, and in any case, will be amnestied after a few years.
