FLOODS IN VICTORIA. '

MELBOURNE, Aug. 31
Floods occurred in many parts of the State, where rivers and' creeks burst their banks, bridges were carried away, and mail services were disorganised. Worse floods are likely to occur in some towns.
Boats are now being used in the. main streets of Rochester. > The worst, floods for eight years oe>> cur red in the Maribyngong river.
During a severe thunder storm at Kallister, five members of a relief gang were struck by lightning, one, .Horace Parker, aged sixty, being killed instantly. The four others were sent to hospital, suffering, from shock and burns.
EDITORS’ CONTEMPT OF COURT BERLIN, August 29.
Doctor Webpl, the judge, who sentenced the Lubeck 'doctors (convicted of neglect in the use of serums, where;by a large number of babies were fatally inoculated), has committed for contempt of Court, Berlin editors who recently published extracts from documents prepared by the defendiug counsel, alleging that Judge Web-el was not in possession of Ids mental powers during the 'trial and was greatly depressed.
