PETITION FOR JHEIR RELEASE.

A -resolution demanding the immediate release of the five hikers who are serving! various terms of imprisonment on charges brought after the mass trepass on Kinfler Sc6ut was passed at a meeting organised by the British Workers’ Sports Federation at the foot of Jacob’s Ladder. The meeting was not largely attended.A petition was signed by some of the people present, ariffrthis, it was sfgted, would be sent to' 1 .the Home Secretary. Uniform and plaiiPelothes police were on duty. ; None oothe speakers would disclose their names. Among those called upon to speak was $ young girl stated to _belong to Cheetlmm, Manchester. She became faint-hearted and said she could not go oh/~Y<Sortie in- the crowd called out, “Go on Annie.;” and ; she then saul that she joined the movement because it was the only, way in which hikeis could get their "rights. .One speaker was stated to present the International Labour Defence and another the British Wo"kers’-:-Sports Federation. The latter 1 urged! A-bontinuanee of mass trespass. ! ' A collection w£*i taken ,for the Inters national Labounfence.
