OBITUARY
MR 'WILLIAM BRUCE. (Per Press Association— Copyright. K GISBORNE, August 27. The death is announced of Mr William Bruce,, aged 88, a retired merchant and farmer. He was the last surviving member of the .original small gearing run-holders Un the Gisborne district. Born at Glasgow, he first came to New Zealand .in 1861 in the Hel’enslea, and settled at Auckland as a contractor’s clerk. Later he tried hia luck on .the goldfields, and then returned to Glasgow. After the successful establishment' of a wholesri’e oil business there hie returned to New Zealand, settling, in Gisborne where he has resided ever since.
