INVERCARGILL, August 27. ‘ The New Zealand basketball tournament was concluded to-day, the weather breaking shortH after midday and a heavy rain setting in, with the esult that the afternoon games had to be played indoors. Otago won the New Zealand Cup, going through the. tournament unbeaten, and Wellington,, who were defeated only once, wofi the/ Annict Brown Cup for the runners-up Ashburton take the President’s Shield for the teem from the minor Associations winnings the most points. The match between the North and South Islands was won .by the North Inland by 22 to 19, after an exciting contest.
