LOST AT SEA
A NEW ZEALAND PASSENGER,

SYDNEY, August 24,
During the voyage of the .steamer Marella (from 1 (Singapore .to 'Sydney, where 'she .arrived to-day, William Baber, of New Zealand, a prominent rubber planter, _ was lost overboard. The fatality occurred one day out from Darwin. His fellow passengers gave evidence, at a formal inquiry on board, that .Baber was depressed owing- to his losses and to his inability to obtain any employment.
