For the second time within a month, relief workers on forestry plantations, on the Kaingaroa Plains have- left the work there, stating that they were unable to continue it, owing to..’the;intense cold. On Tuesday morning thir-ty-six men in,one camp there, decided that' they could not continue, and they asked the ganger in charge for respite.
The ganger told them that he had no authority to release them sp the gang then proceeded hack to (the camp iii order to interview the or email Here they were, told by him that they must return to work in the afternoon, or take the consequences. , The men then left in a body. They werd paid off, and they returned to Rotorua. These men, who are Auckland and Wellington relief workers, were drafted here for the planting season. On Tuesday morning sleet and rain 'storms swept the Kaingaroa Plains, and the men state that, the cold was so severe, that day that they were unable to hold their tools. The men state that they have no complaint agninst tho but they could not face the cold.
