BLENHEIM, August 24. John Walker Fowler gave evidence of finding a.:.key on the green-of Picton croquet club. Henry Ruff ell, a butcher, gave evidence of calling at deceased’s house on November 4th. • about 4.30 p.m. He got no reply to diis knock, and tried the door which was locked. Cross examined, witness said he.out his meat up on the van using ordinary butcher’s knives and cleaver.
James Aldridge, a baker, also deposed to calling at the cottage and finding :;the door locked, which was unusual. ' . ’ Tennyson Connolly deposed to .passing the - cottage on the night on November .3rd. All was. .dark. , The fpllowing morning he again passed, and saw the window open. It was the first time he had seen the window open. The-door was closed.
