Work on the waterfront is proceeding, the men working under the same conditions as yesterday. . The conference to discuss certain of the conditions in the shipowners’ new terms met this morning, but the conclusions are not expected before one o’clock.
ADVICE TO MEN AMENDED.
GISBORNE, August 24
The waterside situation to-da y .was, brought into - line with conditions- at other ports when unionists;;, accepted work on the coastal steamer Tiroa nude;- protest at the old conditions and new rates. Fending .the result of the Wellington conference it is understood that instructions were received yesterday from union, headquarters amending vtdie provides advice to qembat the new rates and conditions.
