INVERCARGILL, Aug. 22
Ohari and Nightcaps Miners’ Union by an overwhelming majority rejected the owners’ proposals, and work has ceased. The mines affected are Linton, Wairaki, Mossbank, Bichwood, 1 and Black Diamond.

DENNISTON, Aug. 20.
At a specially summoned meeting of the Denniston Miners’ Up ion last evening, it was resolved by a large majority to waive, the constitution and the decision , arrived at by,,, tjie ballot taken during this week,-.and to strike against the acceptance of the coalowners’ terms, embodied fn the new agreement submitted for .the miners’ acceptance;,.
As a.result, the Denniston mine did not work to-day, , : ,
