WORK REJECTED AT GISBORNE.

v GISBORNE, August 22.
Waterside .unionists rejected' offers to-day for work on the Tiroa at the new rates and conditions, officials stating that no advice was received concerning the conditions under which the vessel was loaded at Auckland on Saturday. Three calls were made, but no labour, offered. The owners are rerfaining from calling on non-union workers.
LYTTELTON VESSELS WORKING
CHRISTCHURCH, August 22.
. All vessels were working at Lyttelton this morning, including the Rangitata, the coastal steamer Totara, the scow Ngahou,. and the Maori.
NO LABOUR OFFERING

AUCKLAND, August 20.. Watersiders made no response . this morning to a oall for labour for the Ruahine, the only large overseas vessel requiring ilahbur to-day. .Some coastal ships are being worked. _ '
WHARVES IDLE AT BLUFF
INVERCARGILL, August 22. , . There was Ho response to the first call for labour on the Bluff waterfront; The vessels affected are the collier .Tfini, Wainini. and Waikouaiti. Loading is proceeding on the Waipiata under the o’d agreement.
EARLY SOLUTION ANTICIPATED,
An eariy settlement of the dispute anticipated, mediation 'by the Government being expected. It was stated here from a reliable source to be the general feeling that while the employers suffered under the old conditions, the amendments could have , been effected without the proposed drastic cuts.
OWNERS AND MEN MEET

A conference pf the owners and watersiders was held this morning, the former suggesting that the men . should ,rcturn. ; to work under protest.

550 MEN WORKING AT. AUCKLAND
AUCKLAND, August 22
The men working on the wharves this morning totalled 550. A union delegate at mid-day claimed that, .on everj' ship, the old eruditions of work were being observed. , , , “Old call” times are also, being insisted on by the men. .
AUCKLAND ACCEPTS WORK
AUCKLAND, August 22.
- Watersiders to-day accepted work on all ships where ( it offered, including the Ruahine and Aorangi. The work was accepted undpr protest as far as pay. was concerned and on the old conditions.
