OBITUARY
WILLIAM ALBERT COMPORT. The death took place at Westland Hospital on Saturday of Mar. William A. Comport, a well known resident of Rimu for many years and a roadman on the Ross'road. A native of Kent, England, and 78 years of age, deceased came fifty-seven years ago to Slew Zealand, and engaged’in mining pursuits. He leaves a wife .and seven iof a amily, the daughters b-ivg Mesdames Benyon (Nelson), Creamer (Westport) and Lowden (Kiimara) while the sort are Charles (Victoria), John' (Sydney), Victor and Gilbert Jt j(KvAtou). . In the war three other. r; ®ons lost their lives, William, Albert and Henry. The itL.lives will have the - sympathy •of a wide' circle of fr'ends. The funeral took place this morning to Hoki-. tika cemetery, the Rev. H. J. W. Knights conducting the service. MRS A. C. MALONEY. i j The death occurred! on Saturday at her residence, Rimu, of a well-known and respected resident, Mrs Annie Christina Maloney, wife of Mr John Maloney. A native of Woodstock, and 35 years of age, the deceased leaves a grown up family of eight, these being -five daughters, Mesdames Hume (Masterton), 'Craig (Rotorua),, Haussmann (Hokitika), Keenan and Kelly (Rimu), while the sons are • Thomas (Greymouth), John (Hawke’s Bay), and James (Rimu). A sufferer from miners’ phthisis, the Jrte Mr Sponheimer, who wru> 68 years of, age, had worked in gold hr’nes in the Reefton, Kumara and Hokitika districts, both alluvial and quofrtz.- He was a native of Orwell Creek. The deceased had for the past past nin© years resided at Westport.
