Distinct signs of improvements in the foundry trade are reported by Otago ironmasters trading with the North Island, who report that in the .Taranaki and Auckland districts .the tone is more optimistic. , - Business is once, again starting; oh, a mild boom, the cause of the revival being attributed to the return from dairy produce. Most of the foundries here are now working longer hours.
The general engineering. trade is in the same position. Some firms have taken on additional hands, most of the orders coming from Auckland, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay andTaranaki, Generally' there is a more optimistic feel" ing in the North Islajid,
