VALUELESS cheque.

NEW PLYMOUTH, August ,13.
In the Polk* Court to-day, Leonard Mayo and Robert Clive McQueen, both of Auckland, were charged* with issuing valueless cheques! at Christ-, church. They pleaded guilty and were each sentenced , to : six months’ hard labour. There: were also remanded to Auckand on charges of:fraud.
RECKLESS DRIVING.
CHRISTCHURCH, August 13,
Abraham William Talbot, who was charged in the Amberley Magistrate's Court before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.j witlj recklessly driving a motor-lorry causing the death of William Henry Shaw, pleaded not guilty and ! was committed to the Supremo Court for trial. Bail was allowed in the sum of £2OO, with, two sureties of £IOO. The charge arose from an accident that occurred on July 23, when a lorry driven by Talbot crashed into a cattle stop at Omihi. Shaw, a passenger in the lorry, being killed.
