POWER PROJECT
SCHEME IN NORTHERN SWEDEN LONDON, August 13. In n, new hydro-electric station nearing completion in Northern' Sweden, power will he’ received through a double tunnel from 'the water of a lake 197 metres above the station. As considerable surplus power will be obtained on Sundays and during holidays, thei engineers have resolved upon an unusual conservation of hydraulic energy. During times when the demand upon 'the water power i 4 diminished,, high-pressure pumps will force' the water of the river back through tunnels through the mountain, to replenish the water supply of the lake from which during busy times the water is drawn to furnish: the power for the dynamos of the 12,000 k.w. station. This unique idea has attracted widespread interest among the electrical experts of the country.
