On v Saturday the first 'qualifying ■ round for the men’s championship was ,played under ideal, conditions. The ' scores registered . were not good ‘on jthe whole,' most of the; compet-tonii j finding the putting very tricky on •the fast, dry greens. The monthly ; medal match, played in conjunction, .with the qualifying rouhidj vvsa won hy Wyles (who easily headed the (intermediate division), with a score of 94—18—72. ' Stark was second scoring 103—30—73, Mclntosh 104—30 74 third, and Houston,'Tomlinson and Stuart all with a nett :i ’7s tied for fourth place.
