'■ PAYMASTER [INJURED. C ' . • . (Per Press Association — Copyright ) • AUCKLAND, August . 13. While playing Rugby football against an inland team recently, PaymasterLieutenant J. M. Hogan, secretary to Commodore E. Burges Watson,.«, of H.M.S. Diomede, fell heavily and, severely dislocated his shoulder. The. injury was fairly serious and Mr Hogan, was ordered back-to Auckland f° r treatment. He joined ,the Monterey at Suva, and arrives at Auckland on Monday.
MOTOR CYCLE TRAGEDY. .AUCKLAND, August 14. Severe injuries to the head, which later proved fatal,., were received by James Graham Johnston, an electrician*, aged 29, when a motor cycle and side car in which he was a passenegr capsized. , Johnston, who resided at Arch Hill, was riding in the side car, the outfit being driven by William Tuck, of Kihgsland.' The accident * happened ns the machine was turning from Third Avenue into Kingsland Avenue. The injured man was taken to Auckland Hospital, but died at an early hour this morning. The rider of the machine escaped uninjured, ,
YOUNG BOY FOUND DEAD, 7 •. 7 WELLINGTON, Auguiat;-IS. ; Douglas Graham Marks, aged fourtoen, of 23, Maire Street, Wellington, was found dead at the corner of Dufferin and BUis Streets at noon to-day. It is presumed he was knocked from his bicycle by a passing lorry but there were no eye-witnesses. ;
TRAM AND CAR COLLIDE.. CHRISTCHURCH, August 14. ;• A head-on collision between a motorcar and a tram at Rieiddliffs last even-, ing, resulted in Richard Marsel}, of, Seddon, 68 years of age 1 , and' Donald Puller, ’of Pioton, 63:.years, occupants, of the former vehicle receiving injuries, necessitating their - removalto the hospital. Marsel! suffered injuries to the head and a hand, and Puller a compound fracture of the left leg.
