Wliat will be the fate of the, Ward Co-operative Colliery is being asked id Hikurangi. The fate of the mine, is still in the balance.
Mr G. Scott Davidson, managing director, who 'returned this inorbihg from Auckland after a conference with the directors of the Wilson Portland Cement Company, said that no agreement had been reached with', ihem- regarding next year’s conduct of the mine. * ■ I 'T ‘'
During thfe past year, Wilson's have been taking .800 tons of but they now state that they- will require only half that quantity during the 'coming year. ’ It is understood that the . directors have approached the Government- jh relat’d to taking a'supply of coal in order to augment thfe threatened reduced output, blit so far nothing has been arranged.
