NO FURTHER ECONOMIES. (Ter Tress Association — Copyright.) CHRISTCHURCH,. August 9. No further economies are likely to be made in the Eduoation Department as the result of the second part of the National Expenditure Commission’s report, which is now before "Cabinet. The Minister of Education, the Hon, R. .Masters, M.L.C., said on 'Saturday that the references Education ■ Department in the second part of the report dealt . mainly with administrative changes and. not with economies. The Minister said that, the interim report of the Commission dealt very:, fully with the Education Department. Several of the recommeh’dtjons of the, Commission had been .given' effect to, some .had been partially adopted and others had not been adopted at all, : . J ■ ~tt .would take, (Some. ,tints, for,, the. economies already made to be reaily effectlve, continued the Minuter. Some had ! had. an Immediate effect, others would not be operative until the end of the yea? and some would not have ,nny effect until the end of 1934. It would take, some time for the whole of the economies to be realised and be of some benefit' to the Consolidated Fund.
