AN EXPEDITION

'■SEARCH FOR HYPOTHETICAL CONTINENT. FAUNA AND CURRENTS. (British Official Wireless.) , RUGBY, August 2. A scientific expedition to survey 'the 'Arabian iSea and the north-west jpbftipn' of the Indian, Ocean is being organised and will begin operations next year. The leixpenaes are being largely provided 'under the will of ■the 'late Sir JohuvMurray, whose, researches 'during the Claalletiger expedition, during the- last century, immensely extended scientific- knowledge regard tug .the weans of the world. " Next, year’s expedition will be led by Cbionel Seymour Sewed, director of the Indian Museum, Calcutta. Parts of the Arabian S'ea are of immense depth, though few souhdingtt have been taken, away from steamship routes. The main objects will be to study title topography of the ocean -bottom by echo soundings, and search fox traces o>f the hypothetical continent of Lieamaria, which is supposed to have stretched - Ifram India westwards.
