" Next, year’s expedition will be led by Cbionel Seymour Sewed, director of the Indian Museum, Calcutta. Parts of the Arabian S'ea are of immense depth, though few souhdingtt have been taken, away from steamship routes. The main objects will be to study title topography of the ocean -bottom by echo soundings, and search fox traces o>f the hypothetical continent of Lieamaria, which is supposed to have stretched - Ifram India westwards. Oceanic fauna,and currents will also be. studied. The committee arraoging*the expedition liingludes Vibe-Admiral H. P. Douglas, Hydrographer of the Navy, and representatives of geographical and natural history societies, under the chairmanship of Mr J. C, Murray:
