HOKITIKA V MAWHERA. This game on Cass Square yesterday afternoon provided an excellent game. Both teams played well and the ball travelling up and down tho field rapidly, the danger zone changing with great rapidity. There was some excellent combination shown, but at' times the players appeared to be too' eager and lost the. ball. In the first half the play was very interesting and even till a nice passing run saw the defence beaten and Miss Collett scored a neat goal for Hokitika. Mawhera then attacked, hut the play continued slightly in favour of the .home team. A In the second half Mawhera set up l a hot attack and had the best of the plgy for ten minutes, ending in Miss N., McGrath scoring si rather.y.lucky g0a1,,the goal* keeper just facing to keep it out of the net, A further attack was at oime made, hut then .Hokitika - carried play to the other, end where Miss Hall hit an easy goal. The play came back to Mawhera quarters and Miss Hall had two shots in quick suc r cession but they went, wide of the ne.t, Very soon after another hot attack saw the ball going straight for the centre of the net but .the goalie, Mrs ~ McKane, made a brilliant 1 save and ~ kicked away the danger. Mawherjr then set up an attack and a smart save by Miss Daly placed^,the danger to the goal line a corner being conceded. ROVER A. V. ROVER B, This game took place on No. 1 ground but did not prove as expiring or interesting as u the second game. Rover A. had an easy advantage and scored one goal in the first half, while in the second half they had all the better of the play and four more goals we -e notched, the scores coming at regular intervals.
