ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. PRICES AT YESTERDAY’S SALE (Australian Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 3. Five hundred and sixty head oi cattle were yarded, at Addington yesterday, including the usual show consignment that are generally yarded at this fixture, known as the Grand National Market: The quality comprised a magnificent catalogue. There were fewer single show bullocks this, year, but many consignments with cattle weighing over one thousand pounds. Top price for a single beast was £32. A line of thirty head of particularly prime heavy bullocks from the North Island averaged £ll 16s. The top price for a heifer was £lO 7s 6d, and the top price for a cow was £0 7s fid. The competition, generally, was not keen. The handiweights created more enthusiasm, the extra heavy weights having a disappointing sale. There was another large offering of mutton of excellent quality throughout, which created a- firmer tone. Many show pens were offered. There was a general rise of Is to 2s per head until the closing stages, when late rates were maintained. Best slm wethers sold o 365, extra prime 18s 4d to 21s, best show ewes to 18s lOd. extra prime to 14s, spring lambs from 16s 4d to 295. • There were twelve hundred fat lambs, with several exhibition lots, which realised up to 19s 4d. Good quality sold from 13s to 15s 6d. There was little change in values. There w.;s a mediocre offering of store sheep, and a lifeless market. Tlioi •o was a ii 'dium yarding of fat pigs.
