FOUND SHOT
IE VERDICT OF THE CORONER. (Per Press Association — Copyright.) GISBORNE, August'l. At an inquest on Thomas Barbour, aged 48, whose body was found on his mother-in-law’s farm on Saturday with a'gunshot wound in the forehead, the Coroner, Mr P. H. Harper, returned a verdict that death was du'e to a gunshot wound, self inflicted, while deceased was in a state of mental depression. ' .. . y It was stated in evidence that,' deceased was an. Imperial War pensionerand in addition to losing an arm lie suffered from shell shock. Before coming to Gisborne lie was in thte Hawke’s Bay : earthquake and was then removed to hospital. The medical attendants there had reported that the deceased’s n'ervea had suffered ■severely and that the war disabilities had returned as .a result, of the quake.
