ECONOMIES IN AUSTRALIA. (Australian Press Association.) CANBERRA, July 30. New ilight has been thrown on” the Budget plans of the Federal Government by the statement made to-c!ay by the Prime Minister on his return from a Melbourne Cabinet meeting. He saic 1 that it would be found when the Budget statements were presented that the, Government had been compelled te effect .economies which would be of an unpopular nature. Mr Lyons indicated that these economies would be substantial, and some of them would be made in new directions.
