SUGAR SHORTAGE
MOSCOW’S PRESENT PLIGHT . LONDON,. July 28. - From information from Moscow if is learned that a serious sugar short age id the city resulted last month in a reduction of the allowance from thfei and three-quarter .pounds a month fo: each person to one and threc-quarte pounds for the “white collar” class, and two pounds for the workers. At the same time the price was in creased from approximately fiveponce tc sevenpence half-penny a pound in tin shops which take only foreign money although in the ration, shops the cos' remained unchanged at about eleven pence per pound. Despite the recent re moval o f confectioneries from tbt ration category, anything under that heading cannot be purchased at all indicating that manufacturers are being seriously handicapped by the shortage! ■■
