MT COOK MURDER TRIAL

With reference to the remarks of t.,e unief Justice, who commented .adversely upon the prejudicial comments of a Magistrate who conducted preliminary proceedings .in the Mt. Cook murcier case, it ought to be explained that the reference by the Chief Justice involved visiting Magistrates and not Mr C. R. Orr-Walker, resident Magistrate' at Timaru.
OLD MAN ROBBED
DUNEDIN, July 30
Langford McConnell, aged 86, an; o.ld age pensioner, residing in a lane off King Street,, was found wandering in G c orge •'Street at eight o’clock this morning suffering from wounds to; his head and eyes. He stated that his. •ut was broken; into last night by men who assaulted and robbed him of iU3. He had wandered out for help at daylight. The man’s injuries are not considered serious except in conjunction with his age.
