L/VDY HOUSTON DEPLORES CUT. OFFER MADE TO CHANCELLOR. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at II a.m.) LONDON, July 28, Lady Houston has written to the Chancellor of the, Exchequor: “Your regrettable refusal of the £200,000 I offered, to lessen the shameful cut m Britain’s defences, has decided me to send a smaller sum of £40,000, which is the, amount of income tax which would be due if I were living in England instead of Jersey. I. hope you will not be too proud to accept it.”
