Tllfe official Labour candidate for the Southern Maori seat, Hari Wi Katene, has not been ailowed to stand, his nomination, paper being refused by the Returning Office, on the grounds, it is understood, that he is' a European, having been so declared in 1917. MR KATENE SEEKING ADVICE. CHRISTCHURCH, July 22. Nominations closed ao noon arid Mr Katene was of the position on depositing his papers. To-n'ght he will leave for Woffington in order to take legal advice as to th e next steps he should adopt.
