COMPETITIONS IN WESTLAND
The Westland ladies’/hockey competition was continued yesterday with the following results : Mawhera, 4, v. Kokatahi 3. Hokitika 4, v. Rover B 0.
HOKITIKA V. ROVERS,
’Hokioika defeated ’Rover B by 4 to nil. Rover B are a steaddy improving team and gave a fair display against the mor e experienced team .who took every advantage, but 'Rovers drove them back time after time.
Hovers were- ill the Hokitika circle on quite a few occasions, but lacked the necessary finish. £. Stephens, Rover's goalie, .played a splendid game, stopping some'great shots and o'taring effectively, E. Standall, M. Stickles, T. Ridlard, B. Johnson'' played splendid defensive games, while, for Hokitika, M. Hughes, J. Hal', and J. Oo)Jelt were the bast. F. Stapleton was referee. The scorers for Hokitika were Jean Hall (2), N. Yarrall and E. Collett. OLD BOYS V. ROVER A. Jn the Old Boyfi v. Rover A match the game ended in a draw 4 all, the “Beys” narrowly averting defeat by scoring just on time. MAWHERA V. KOKATAHJ. Mawhera, playing two players short, defeated Kokathhi by four goali.v to one, in a fairly even game. The ground was in,.good order, and the weather i conditions perfect for hockey. Jf, M<Grath (3) and M. Little were the scorers for Mawhera, and L. Monk scored for Kokatahi. JM. Milligan, N. Furness, N. McGrath and M. L'ttfe were the pick of the visitors, whilst, 8. Sherriff (goalie), saved her side many times. Other players who were outstanding were L. Monk, H. Kelly and D. Marshall,
