INCIDENT EXPLAINED
WELLINGTON, July 19,
Mr B. Parata waited upon the management committee of the Wellington Ladies’ Hockey Association last evening. He said hie had been instructed by the committee of the Toa Club.to state, in connection with the-incident during the hockey - match at Porirua on Saturday, that the Toa Club would like : the matter cleared up;With regard to the allegation that a Maori ginl had dropped her stick and:"shaped up’? to- an opposing player, Mr Parata said the position was that the hospital player • had pulled the stick out of a, Toa player’s hand. The Toa Club desired, if possible, that the match should be played over again l with lady referees from the association to control the game. The chairwoman said that .the'refer ee ’ who controlled the game hnrl promised to forward, a report. She suggested that if anything very irregular had occurred in the game the referee would have known how to deal with lit promptly. It was decided to deal with the matter at a special meeting on Thursday.
